Inspiration is my new drug. It’s really cool, it’s just this breathtaking feeling that pops up out of nowhere and you’re like, “Damn that’s such a good idea.” Sometimes it makes you stay up all night thinking about it, or distracts you from your work or a conversation with your friend. But it’s worth it. It only comes around once in awhile so you should grab it, put it in your pocket, bring it to the bathroom and sniff the shit out of it. Why would you waste something like that? Do it right now while it’s in your veins.
I’ve seen so many people think they are not good enough and waste their talent. Most of the time people think:
one: we have to be perfect
two: we have to follow the rules
three: we have to have money to be happy and successful
All wrong. You don’t have to do any of that.
One: it isn’t about being perfect. People that bring humanity and flexibility to their lives / work will thrive because when they make a mistake, they know they will be able to adapt to a the new situation and everything will be fine. Everybody can get a 10 out of 10, but can you add something human to it?
Two: following the rules makes you like everybody else. It makes you replaceable, anyone can follow a rule or an instruction. But can you be creative, generous, artistic……can you be a troubleshooter? Someone that doesn’t have an instruction manual to do something, they just figure it out. They know how to solve the problem and get things done. They are not afraid to do it. Can you predict a problem before there is one?
Three: money is a waste of time. If you are working just for the money, you should quit. You aren’t gaining anything from that job, you aren’t learning or growing or doing anything that is worthwhile to your life. You should work for inspiration, money should be considered your junk mail.
I think I spend most of my day worrying, I’d say 80% of the time I am questioning every single thing that I do, because there is no map. I don’t know if what I am doing is right or wrong, but it shouldn’t matter. The only way to find out is by making something happen for myself.
And when I am truly doing something for myself or doing something bigger than myself, I feel warm inside.
I feel like I can really feel what it’s like to be alive, to be noticed and accepted. To….. be me.
My life has been a constant stream of ups and downs, and some of the time it’s mostly downs. When I start to doubt myself it makes the hard times even worse. I’ve learned that keeping true to myself helps me cope with the tough times.
And when I experience that split second of pure ME, I grab a hold of it and let it consume me and I bathe in the momentary blankness to not have to think or try to be anything else.
I smile, feel free and appreciate every tiny second for in that moment nothing can touch me.
